Mediaeval Week takes place here every summer, and many specialities are available such as lamb, saffron pancakes and the special Gotland brew. Outside of the city wall, miles of sandy beaches are waiting, with top-ranked golf courses, limestone formations known as “rauks”, amusement parks, Pippi Longstocking’s house Villa Villekulla, crafts and delicatessen food, all of it produced locally, of course.
There are excellent opportunities for an active holiday, with cycling, surfing, riding, fishing and golf. Those interested in culture will find a wide range of museums, theatres, exhibitions and concerts to choose from. City Airline flies to Visby during the summer months.
