But if you are just going to see a small portion of what the city has to offer, then the most well-known places and buildings are St Peter’s Basilica and The Sistine Chapel, both in the Vatican City, The Colosseum of course, The Pantheon, The Roman Forum, and the Piazza Navona and Fontana di Trevi.
Travellers to Italy eat and drink very well. Keep an eye open for the small simple restaurants and the trattorias which are the best places to eat. Eating takes time here, so count on three courses, even at lunchtime!
Rome offers of course plenty of entertainment and the night life is best in the Testaccio district. Other interesting districts to visit are Trastevere, Monti and Pigneto.
You can go shopping on The Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona to start off and then move on to the long shopping street, Via del Corso. So make sure you remember to pack a pair of comfortable gym shoes.
