Bon appétit!
If you enjoy food and drink, then Lyon is the place for you. Here you will find French gourmet restaurants and exclusive bars. Lyon lies in the interesting Rhône Alp region with many attractions – not least the wine districts: Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhônes, Bresse, Valence, Clermont-Ferrand, and many others.
Lyon is also perfectly situated for an active holiday with many excellent golf courses nearby, and convenient skiing opportunities in the Alps. Lyon is the second largest city in France and is slightly larger than Stockholm. The rivers Rhône and Saône meet here under 28 bridges, and water is around you wherever you are. Just as Visby and Tallin, Lyon has a history as a trading centre, and its exciting history has led UNESCO to designate parts of the city as worthy of protection.
Central Lyon is principally Le Presquile, between the rivers. Here you can go wild shopping along the Rue de la Republique, relax in the Place Bellecour, or visit the opera, theatre, restaurants, pubs and bars. In other words, the city offers a fine mixture of food, leisure, shopping and culture. The old town,
Vieux Lyon, lies on the opposite side of the river Saône, a wonderful area full of restaurants and cafés. Lyon is at its most beautiful in the evenings, lit by its justly famous illumination – not to be missed!
