The beautiful west coast of Sweden Göteborg is the town by the sea, the town of events and activities, the town of culinary delights, shopping, culture and parks. In short, Göteborg has just about everything. And one thing it has much of is the sea – Göteborg lies on Sweden’s beautiful west coast. You can enjoy fish and shellfish at essentially all restaurants here, and they don’t come any fresher than this. Water is everywhere close and the archipelago, with its bathing locations and boat trips, is easy to access.
Göteborg is a small city, and all attractions, events, leisure facilities, parks and activities are close by. Something is always going on here, and there are many sports arenas, such as Scandinavium, Nya Ullevi and Gamla Ullevi, where you can watch the city’s teams in action. Concerts with international stars are also held in the major arenas.
The largest amusement park in the Nordic region,
Liseberg, is in Göteborg, as is
Svenska Mässan,
the Swedish Exhibition Centre. This is the site for many of Sweden’s and Scandinavia’s largest public exhibitions, meetings, conferences and congresses.
You can find both restaurants and shopping along Avenyn, Göteborg’s showpiece street. The Haga area consists of old, low wooden buildings housing cafés and exciting shops, while bars and restaurants are tightly packed in the Vasastaden and Linnéstaden areas. And of course, Göteborg has many top-quality museums and art galleries, theatres and cinemas, not forgetting the
opera house situated right on the water’s edge in the harbour.
